Affordability check

A financial-risk check applied above a £150 net monthly loss, with enhanced checks for higher spenders — so most high rollers. Part of UK player protection.

Cashback

A perk returning a percentage of losses. Net cashback (after wins) is valuable; gross/turnover cashback is usually worth far less. See cashback explained.

Comp points

Loyalty points earned through play that convert to rewards or cash. The conversion rate is a key measure of how generous a VIP scheme is.

Deposit limit

A cap you set on how much you can pay in over a day, week or month. The simplest and most important safeguard at high stakes.

GAMSTOP

The free UK national self-exclusion scheme that blocks you from all UKGC-licensed online gambling for a chosen period. See responsible gambling.

High roller

A player who consistently bets large sums. High roller casinos cater to them with high limits, VIP rewards and fast large payouts. See what is a high roller casino.

High-limit table

A live or table game with high maximum bets, often a dedicated VIP table. Where high rollers bet at meaningful levels. See high stakes live casino.

House edge

The casino's built-in mathematical advantage, the inverse of RTP. It applies equally to large and small bets.

KYC (verification)

The "know your customer" identity check every UK casino must run before paying out. Completing it early speeds up large withdrawals.

Maximum bet rule

A bonus term capping your stake (often £5) while wagering is active; betting above it voids the bonus. A common trap for high rollers. See bonuses explained.

Personal account manager

A VIP host assigned at top tiers who arranges tailored offers, higher limits and faster payouts. Invitation-only. See personal account managers.

RTP

Return to Player — the share of stakes a game returns over the long run. A 96% RTP game returns £96 per £100 staked on average; the rest is the house edge.

Reload bonus

A matched-deposit bonus for existing players, part of many VIP schemes. Valuable for regulars if the wagering is reasonable.

Source of funds

Evidence (payslips, bank statements) a casino must collect on large play to meet UK anti-money-laundering rules. See source of funds checks.

Stake limit

The statutory cap on online slot stakes: £5 per spin for over-25s, £2 for 18–24-year-olds, in force since 2025.

Table limit

The minimum and maximum bet allowed on a game. Live and table games carry casino-set maximums; slots are capped at £5 a spin by UK law. See table limits explained.

UKGC

The UK Gambling Commission — the statutory regulator that licenses all gambling in Great Britain. Only trust a large balance to a casino on its register.

VIP scheme

A casino loyalty programme that rewards play with points, tiers, cashback, reloads and — at the top — a personal host. The main source of long-term value for a high roller. See how VIP schemes work.

Wagering requirement

The number of times a bonus must be staked before withdrawal. On a large balance, heavy wagering can lock up serious money — low or no wagering is best.

Withdrawal cap

A casino limit on how much you can withdraw per day, week or month. Low caps mean a large win is paid in instalments. The best high roller casinos lift them for VIPs.
